DVD 1000 cal question and question about weight loss stopping

Hi!

I have a few questions. One is about the new DVD's coming out (I can't wait!). Okay, this question is from my husband. If I am eating only 1200 calories a day and this new workout burns 1000 cals, will that leave me with enough calories for energy or whatever? He thinks I will have to eat more.

Next question. Three weeks have gone by and I still weigh 113 pounds and I am stuck at 21% body fat. My goal is 110 pounds and 20% body fat. I still have a small amount of fat around my belly button and some fat on my outer thighs, mostly my left thigh. Now, I will say that during these three weeks I did lose inches and for two days I went up to 114 (the fat weight on my scale did not go up though so I think I gained muscle) and then went back down to 113. I do see my hamstring muscles for the first time in my life! Before when I was thin, I was just thin, no muscle tone at all. My question is, is there a point when a person just can't lose anymore weight? Or is this just another plateau? I have tried most of  the normal plateau busters. I have not tried to get rid of all carbs yet? I hear that works, but I have heard it's not good to do.

Any ideas? Thanks!

     Aubrey

UPDATE: (Aug 3rd) I had to take Thurs and Fri off from working out because 3 of my kids were sick. Maybe a short break worked. I worked out like crazy yesterday and of course ate right, and today I am down to 112.6 (I was 113.8 yesterday morning) and I am 20.8% body fat! Do you think it was the break? Crazy, but I am happy!

UPDATE: 110 pounds today (Aug 9th) HURRAY!

You are doing great! Tomorrow I will have some extra time and I'll send you some meal ideas and tell you my favorite meals and snacks. I eat five times a day, three hours apart. Low salt, sat/trans fat and refined sugar is the best way to eat! And eating monounsaturated fat everyday is wonderful! It'll help you lose weight. So many yummy ways to get monounsaturated fat too. Like almonds, I love almonds! Well I am off to bed. I'll "talk" to you more tomorrow. Oh, and this website is great for motivation! So many wonderful people on here :)

I like the 1000 calorie fat burn DVD best. A while back, in my Intro to Nutrition class, the biggest fact that stood out from the book was that it takes about 45-60 minutes straight of keeping the heart at 60% of max to burn fat most effectively.

After three weeks, I have come a long way, learning to cook a few things, and getting used to the workouts. I worked hard on studying the food so that I'm not feeling the effects or low blood sugar. This fourth week I decided to do one full hour of Barry's Bootcamp 5-6 days a week while trying to keep my heart rate at my ideal 60% of max which is 120 bpm (beats per minute). So far, three days straight of one hour per day and I'm still motivated by interacting with you guys. I have lost 11 pounds and an inch off my waist after four weeks. My body is definitely shaping up.

I started at 238 pounds and my goal is to hit 197 pounds by December 14th, which is about 2.5 pounds per week and will put me right at the border of underweight/overweight. From there, I'm gonna look more closely into BMI (Body Mass Index) so that I set an appropriate final goal weight. I'm extra motivated to hit my goals since right after Chrismas break, I'll start interviewing for work and I want to look sharp.

Let's step up this website interaction a lot more to get each other really motivated. I feel that social interaction is about the highest human need and just by interacting with each other a lot, we're helping each other meet our goals.

I could use some messages on your quickest meals that taste great which are extremely low in salt, bad fats and sugars. Right now I'm cooking my own chicken breasts, rice and potatoes. I also make simple salads. I know that I need to add some more variety to make sure I enjoy my food routine that is really boosting my weight loss. Someone pointed out how to make microwave oatmeal in one minute using Quaker Quick 1-minute Oats which is really awesome. I'm interested in your complete meal plan routines.

My 3-hour spread meal routine is:

Breakfast: 4 oz. yogurt (protein), 1 cup oatmeal (carb), 1 full grapefruit (fruit)
Snack 1: 4 oz. yogurt, 1/2 cup oatmeal
Lunch: 4 oz. chicken, 1 cup rice, salad with zero cal dressing or 2 cups veggies
Snack 2: 4 oz. chicken, 1/2 cup rice
Dinner: 4oz. chicken, 1 cup potatoes, salad or 2 cups veggies
PM Snack: 1/2 cup fruit

Love ya too! Hey, I did up my calories this week, adding about 200 more a day, because now I need to maintain my weight. I don't want to stop doing BBC, but I am still losing weight and I am eating a lot. My old pre-baby metabolism is back! However, I did hit 104.6 pounds today, I know you don't want me to do that, so should I add even more calories? I know how to lose weight, now I need to learn how to maintain 105 pounds. OMG, my thighs are looking better and better each day! That Extreme 1000 workout is too good! LOL! I did it again last night with the green bands, it was great! My arms are feeling it today! The push-ups are hard for me though. Oh, and when I add food it's been healthy food. I still don't want to add a bunch of saturated fat or sugar. Thanks for everything Barry :)

Yay! Okay, I'm glad you set me straight. Just remember I am on your side and want to support you and all my Bootcamper in achieving their personal best. Nobody's perfect though - not me, not the girls of the DVD, not any of the Hollywood A-listers I've trained. Every one of us has problem areas and things we'd like to change about our bodies. Okay. So their is no such thing as perfect. I'm glad your happy with the amazing results you've achieved, and your family and friends might come around one day, so you keep showing them how it's done. Love ya!

I do want to add, there is still plenty of fat on my body too. My thighs and tummy do still have a bit of jiggly fat. But it's not too much and my butt is a normal shape, so I am happy. Would I like to look as perfect as the girls in the DVD's, yes, but I know this is as good as it gets for me and I am fine with that. See I'm not crazy, or I would say I am going to lose weight until I am as perfect as those Hollywood girls. I hit my goal, and I feel WONDERFUL! Just sad about the scale thing. I'll admit I'm addicted to the scale, but when I see it each morning and I see the numbers it's like it's saying "You did it Aubrey, you lost the weight" and it puts a smile on my face. I remember what it felt like when it said 148.5 pounds and I was a size 16. I hated life back then. And what you say about my scale, my husband, sister and mother say about Barry's Bootcamp and eating healthy food. They think now that I have reached my goal, I should stop working out and eat burgers, fries, pies and cakes again. They are just upset because they couldn't give up the bad foods and they worked out for about a month and stopped, so they are all still over weight. I am addicted to my scale, to BBC and to eating healthy. But it's better then when I was addicted to burgers, fries, soda, and junk food. Right?

Slit my wrists? I'm not insane. Disturbing? First I'm fat and eating like a pig and that's bad, now I am eating right and working out and I like to weigh myself and that's bad. I just can't win either way. :( You also must know that my dad's side of the family have tiny bones. So two of my siblings and I have tiny bones. When you meet me someday you'll see. Like tiny Asian bones. My dad has never weighed over 110 pounds, ever, and he is 5'9. He has tried everything to gain weight. His family is just a bunch of toothpicks...lol. My mom's side are all really fat. It's funny! I won't get under 105 pounds. Don't worry. You would have freaked if you met me before my kids, I weighed 90 pounds and ate over 3000 calories of junk everyday.

ROTFL!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay, okay, i give up! i now pronounce you scale and wife! have your scale on the rocks! smoke it! snort your scale for all i care! mainline it! if it makes you happy, and keeps you on track, fine. i just don't want you to slit your wrists if it tells you you've gained a couple % bf points. if you can promise me that, ms. ocd, i'll get off your scale. ok? but try not to pass this disturbing behavior on to your kids. ;o) And don't go any lower than 105. I'm serious. There is such a thing as being too skinny and having too little bodyfat. It's just as unhealthy as having too much.

LOL! Barry, I know I am obsessed with my scale! I have OCD you know. Do you know that I write down all the info from my scale each day, along with what I eat and which Bootcamp workouts I do, and eliptical workout, if I do that. See, then I can look back at the best weeks, and see what I did and what works best. Like the weeks I lost 2 or 3 pounds, I did at least two morning "caffeine only" workouts along with my night workouts and I ate at home most of the week. I also love seeing that fat % go down. It's a great feeling. I also know that I was addicted to food, really addicted! So now I am addicted to my scale, working out and eating right. I know I have a problem, I don't think I could stay off the scale for two weeks, I would go insane. I would be afraid to eat. LOL! The scale keeps me loving what I am doing. I know that you don't like scales, and a few people have bought body fat scales like mine (sorry) and if you really want me to stay off I would try. But the scale makes me so happy and keeps me doing the right things. Why is it bad if it makes me so happy and keeps me in line? Now if I stay off for two weeks and get back on and I have gained weight, I will freak. I love ya too!

Xlnt! I think your twins are my youngest clients ever! That is great. You are starting them on such a great path by making fitness fun. I really want to develop a Bootcamp workout for kids. It's in the works.

Now, 'Brey, I know how you LOVE your scale, but try not to get so obsessed with those numbers. Seeing 105 might make you happy, but what if you see 107 again, you're gonna be unhappy. Why do that to yourself? Why not just enjoy feeling good from doing your best and the way working out and eating right make you feel? You are in AMAZING shape now and your healthy, and I suspect you're gonna stay that way for life, even if you go up or down a few pounds. You wouldn't want your kids to judge themselves by something like a machine, or even another person, would you? So why should you want that for you? I say this because you're one of my BBC stars, and you're an inspiration to a lot of other people on this site. Consider this an intervention. Aubrey, I love ya, but I think you have a problem with scales. LOL (Have you read my new blog on addiction?) Don't believe you have a problem? Okay, then let's see ya stay off it for 2 weeks. If ya can, without craving it, i'll never bring it up again. Deal?

Are you spying on me? Ha ha ha! It's funny you would say 5 days off. I didn't want to, but I just took 5 days off this week. It was torture! The first night I was just so tired but the rest were because my husband had to work swing shifts and I didn't have him to watch our 2-year-old twins so I could work out. It was a HARD week, I didn't have those endorphins from working out and I started to crave chocolate for the first time in months, and I was grumpy! I need my workouts! So today I did Bootcamp (upper and abs M.S.) this morning after the kids got off to school, AND I am doing Bootcamp (lower and lower M.S.) tonight! The twins were bootcamping too today. I have to get them doing the mountain climber on video, it's so funny! Anyway, it'll be interesting to see what happens this next week when I am back to bootcamping six days a week. I am at 107 pounds still, but my fat % and fat weight went up a tiny bit this week. I would love to get to 105 pounds though, that would be perfect. Then I'll just maintain. Anyway, thanks again for everything! I can't get over the fact that my butt is a normal butt shape! I never thought that would happen. I can't wait to get the new DVD's! They are on the way now!
