Vegan Diet help...

Hi Barry!  I love my new DVD’s (I’m on day 2)!  I’ve always put what I eat off to the side because I’ve been vegan for 3 years and just knew if I moved more the weight would come off.  I still think this is true because whenever I do any type of exercise I lose weight no problem.  It’s when I stop working out that I gain it all back.  But my friend is a personal trainer and he says I need to eat more because if I don’t take in enough calories I could really hurt my body.

I’m trying to follow your food plan but it’s not very vegan friendly.  And Dr. Gourmet keeps telling me to eat turkey and chicken (yuck!)  I would rather be 300 pounds then eat an animal.  I’m counted calories the past 2 days and here’s what I got:
Day 1:
Cal - 1880
Fat 63.5
Protein 58.75
Carbs 292.5
Sugars 79

Day 2:
Day:
Cal 1382.5
Fat 26
Cards 246.5
Sugars 49.5
Protein 55

He say’s I need to add a meal?  I’m not hungry or tired!  Any help?

Weight 180
Height 5.8

Besides Barry's program, I like the eating/diet program from the book "Fat Smash Diet" by Dr. Ian Smith; its based on fruits, vegetables, lots of brown rice and beans/alternative protein choices. I am doing more low carb right now, but when I am eating more carbs and counting calories I do a combo of Barrys plus the Fat Smash program.

I was vegan myself for a few years, believe it or not. You must substitute things like beans and rice to make up for the protein in meat. You have to eat a lot to make up for the low calories, and no, vegan cookies don't count. Now I just Googled "vegan diet planner" and got a bunch of sites that look like they could help you do this. Let me know how that works.

I so Agree with you I too am a vegan and I tried to used Dr. Gourmet also and I refuse to eat any animal products. I have the same question as she does. Where do we find menus for us vegan people?
